Cooper Twirls a Gem for Mahoning Valley
Ripken Stadium was the site for New York-Penn League action featuring the Aberdeen Ironbirds and Mahoning Valley Scrappers.

Mahoning Valley picked up a win at Ripken Stadium, bumping off the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 6-0. Pitcher Elijah Cooper was a major reason the Scrappers emerged victorious. The Scrappers raised their record to 26-12.

Cooper imposed his will on the Ironbirds, scattering 2 hits over 6.1 innings while striking out 10. The right-hander upped his season record to 1-1.

"This game will humble you real quick," said Aberdeen manager Chris Bush.
