The Milwaukee (SS-A) Brewers got a sterling performance from pitcher Matt Hanson, but the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds still prevailed, 4-3. Hanson threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Cincinnati (SS-A) reliever Jose Diaz was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Matt Hanson took the loss. Louis Wijker earned the save for Cincinnati (SS-A), his 3rd.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Reds grabbed the lead when Phil Jones rapped a two-out home run. Cincinnati (SS-A) was trailing 1-0, when Jones hit a 2-run home run off Matt Hanson to put his team in front, 2-1.
"It was a solid team effort," said Jones after the game.
Cincinnati (SS-A) now owns a record of 12-16.
