Ortiz Helps Giants Beat Mets, 8-1
|
San Francisco (Rk+) and Kingsport got after it at Ballpark of Anchorage.
Led by Manny Ortiz, the San Francisco (Rk+) Giants defeated the Kingsport Mets, 8-1. Ortiz went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Giants. San Francisco (Rk+) reliever Lachlan Walker was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Rich Arnold.
Daniel Nieto dealt the Mets a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and San Francisco (Rk+) leading 2-1, Nieto hit a 2-1 changeup for a run-scoring single.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Nieto said. "We did a good job of that today."
