Houston starter Mark Gaither pitched well against the Tampa Bay Rays at Jon Nunez Sr. Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Gaither got the win, improving to 4-6. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Gaither allowed 2 runs. Dylan Scott got credit for the save for Houston. It was his 20th of the year.

Justin Haug, the 30-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Haug contributed a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Houston up, 5-2.

"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Gaither told the Houston Gazette.

The Astros now have a record of 31-31.
