He may have less experience than most of his Appalachian League peers, but that didn't slow Miguel Tellez down at all in 2098.

At the age of 24, the Burlington third baseman has been named the winner of the Appalachian League Most Valuable Player Award.

He had a .344 batting average and a .443 on-base percentage this year. In 73 games he piled up 87 hits, 15 doubles, 4 triples, 9 home runs, 48 RBIs and 57 runs scored.

"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."

He received 14 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Josh Lewis of the Burlington Royals finished second in voting, while Mitchell Akhurst of the Greeneville Astros finished third.
