Hestermann Gets Number 2000 Tuesday, April 21st , 2099 Jeff Hestermann started out as a baby-faced rookie many seasons ago. Yesterday at Citi Field the New York veteran joined the league's 2000-hit club. Hestermann achieved that milestone with a 1-for-5 day in the Mets 7-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. He spoke to reporters in the clubhouse after the game and said, "Looking at the list of all the great players who have done this is humbling. It is a great honor to be among them."
