What a way to finish off the year — being honored with the 2068 Most Valuable Player Award in the National League. It had already been a very special season for Philadelphia‘s Jonathan Vera, but today’s announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Jonathan Vera gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .296 as he collected 182 hits, 32 doubles, 11 triples, 39 home runs and 111 RBIs.

He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 30. Daniel Hunziker of the San Diego Padres finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Paul Selle of the Chicago Cubs finished third with 4 first place votes.
