St. Louis Upended by Chicago, 4-1
|
The Chicago Cubs got a marvelous performance from pitcher Justin Sorensen. The left-hander kept the St. Louis offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-1 Chicago victory at Busch Stadium. Andrew Gray, who finished 2nd in the NL in saves with 44 in 2109, earned the save for Chicago. The win lifts Chicago to a record of 14-15.
Chicago won the game in part because of Adam McCloskey. The third baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 4-1. For the game, McCloskey had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said McCloskey.
