Brewers Win Close Shave, 4-3
|
The Milwaukee Brewers had to overcome a fine effort from Chicago pitcher Jérémy Dumont to win, 4-3, in 11 innings at Wrigley Field. Dumont went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Ray Dunham was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-3. The losing pitcher was Jonathan Hager. With the loss, Chicago drops to 17-14.
Milwaukee relied on the bat of Steve Tocci to get the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Brewers ahead, 4-3. For the game, Tocci had 1 double and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.
"We had a chance to win," said Chicago manager Vin Calia, "but we didn't get it done."
