Reds Sneak Past Twins, 4-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Great American Ball Park, topping the Minnesota Twins, 4-3. On the mound for Cincinnati was left-hander Bryan Brown. He played a principal role in the triumph. Tim Snipes picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Carlos Mella, who finished 3rd in the AL in saves with 40 in 2107, was tagged with the loss. Cincinnati goes to 17-14.
The decisive blow was delivered by Pat Warner in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a run-scoring double off 29-year old left-handed pitcher Carlos Mella to win the game for Cincinnati. The home crowd went nuts.
"Bottom line," said Minnesota skipper Chris Greuling, "we didn't play well enough to win."
