Braves Absorb 7-3 Loss at Nationals Park
|
The Washington Nationals grabbed a win, 7-3, over the Atlanta Braves at Nationals Park. Washington right fielder Adam Struthers slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Andrew Babcock picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-5 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 2 in 6.2 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Washington is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 10th win in 32 games.
Washington left fielder Darric Kane contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 2nd hit of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 4-3.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Struthers told a Washington Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
