Pittsburgh Bats Go Silent in 4-0 Loss
|
Ryan Person, who is tied for 4th in the NL in innings pitched with 45.1, pitched well, but the Pittsburgh Pirates still fell short, losing, 4-0, to the New York Mets at Citi Field. Sean McNees, who finished 3rd in the AL in innings pitched with 209.2 in 2104, was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Ryan Person. The loss drops the Pirates to 13-19.
The Mets got a big at-bat from third baseman Grant Goff. For the game, Goff was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave New York a 3-0 lead.
Goff attributed the win to his team's "grittiness."
