Close Win Moves Rockies to 21-12
|
The Colorado Rockies rode a solid performance from 23-year-old starting pitcher Casey Neill to a win, beating the Pittsburgh Pirates, 3-2, at PNC Park. The winner was Neill. He threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Ryo Kojima. Earning his 1st save for Colorado was John Brenner.
Trevor Crouch, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in home runs with 10, had a direct impact on the outcome. Crouch contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Colorado up, 3-0.
"Both teams played hard," said Colorado manager Trevor Taka.
The Rockies, at 21-12, lead by one game in their division.
