Blue Jays Deck Mets, 11-2
|
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the New York Mets, 11-2, with center fielder John Slaff playing a big role. Slaff was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Blue Jays in the win. Reliever Victor Urueta picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Tony Tafaya took the loss. The Mets, now 10-22, continue their poor start.
In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Slaff hit a 2-run home run to put his team ahead.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Toronto manager Dan Silva.
