With Late Score, Blue Jays Beat Mets
|
Led by Miguel Polanco, the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the New York Mets, 5-4. Polanco was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Blue Jays. Jay Courtney sewed up the save, his 2nd. The Mets drop to 10-21, as their stumbling start to the 2109 season continues.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Marcos Iniguez came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing New York pitcher Brandon Chopp, he hit a full count cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Toronto on top, 5-4.
"Enjoyed this one," Polanco told the Toronto Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
