Chicago got a big-time effort from pitcher Jérémy Dumont, but it wasn't enough to keep the Cincinnati Reds from winning the game, 4-3. Dumont threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Cincinnati reliever Mark Langseth was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Jonathan Hager took the loss. Corey Comer earned his 11th save, after closing out the game.

Cincinnati used a timely hit from Danny Molina to get the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Reds ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Molina said.

Cincinnati is now 20-15.
