Guardians Take Down Diamondbacks, 6-5
|
The Cleveland Guardians topped the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-5, with first baseman Barry Nicholson playing a big role. Nicholson was 4-5 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs for the Guardians in the win. The Guardians now own a record of 21-14.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Nicholson delivered big-time for Cleveland, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Derek Savard. The game-changing hit put the Guardians on top, 6-5.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Cleveland skipper Isaiah Batts. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
