Red Sox Turn Away Royals, 6-4
|
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Kansas City Royals, 6-4, in American League action at Kauffman Stadium. Joe Fowler pulled his weight. The 10-year veteran was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Nick Miller picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Jim Garvelink was tagged with the loss. Boston is now 22-13, Kansas City 12-24.
Boston used a well-timed hit by Sergio Mejia to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 5-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Boston skipper Michael Meagher. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
