With Late Score, Brewers Beat Mariners
|
The Milwaukee Brewers battled the Seattle Mariners into extra innings before the outcome was decided. The Brewers won it, finally, 6-5, in 11 innings. In the game, Milwaukee first baseman Adam Powers went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Milwaukee reliever Dan Buskey picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Antonio Solorio was saddled with the loss. The win makes Milwaukee 19-16.
Milwaukee used the timely hitting of Josh Valencia to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Brewers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was terrific getting this win," Powers said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
