The Minnesota Twins knocked off the New York Yankees, 6-1, in American League action at Target Field. Minnesota pitcher and Endicott, New York, native Chris Gurr had an outstanding performance. The winner in relief was Jody Ford. He is now 2-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. The Twins now have a record of 19-16 with the win over New York.

Hsi-chuen Tian, who is tied for 4th in the AL in doubles with 12, took New York hurler Chase Gifford deep in the bottom of the seventh. His solo home run put the Twins on top, 2-1. In all, Tian had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Gurr.
