Esquivel has 3 hits tonight, Leads Phillies to Win
|
The San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Francisco Giants by a score of 5-1. Philadelphia first baseman Luis Esquivel deserved the lion's share of the credit. Esquivel went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Phillies. Philadelphia starter Kyle O'Brien was credited with the win after throwing 110 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-2.
Esquivel contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Philadelphia in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Esquivel took a fastball from Ruben Rivas and stroked the home run to left. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Phillies to leap in front, 3-1.
Esquivel told a Philadelphia Observer reporter that he was "very satisfied" with the win.
The Phillies raised their record to 19-16.
