Reds Sneak By Braves, 3-2
|
Atlanta got a terrific performance from pitcher Ryan Kohn, but it wasn't enough to beat the Cincinnati Reds. Cincinnati won the Great American Ball Park contest, 3-2. Kohn threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs for the losing team. Cincinnati reliever Mike Yates was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Burke Rohrabaugh. With the win, Cincinnati raised its record to 21-16.
Had Jonathan Nelson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Nelson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Reds.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Dan Hoagland.
