Twins Slip Past Red Sox, 3-2
|
Getting an impressive start from Steve Spadavecchia, Minnesota beat Boston by the score of 3-2. The win belonged to Carlos Mella in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Scott Duree took the loss for Boston. The third-place Twins are 17-21.
Minnesota got a knockout punch from Bret McBride. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Spadavecchia said.
