Phillies Sink Brewers, 9-2
|
The Philadelphia Phillies knocked off the Milwaukee Brewers, 9-2, in National League action at Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia pitcher and Concord, California, native Rick Whitley had an outstanding performance. Philadelphia reliever Rick Whitley picked up the win. Ray Dunham, the 15th overall pick in the 2101 draft, took the loss for Milwaukee. With the win, Philadelphia upped its record to 18-18.
Zack Baize had a big 2-run home run for the Phillies in the bottom of the first inning. With Philadelphia trailing 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from former first round draft pick Ray Dunham and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Phillies on top, 2-1.
Said losing manager Danny Post: "We need to play with more of an edge."
