White Sox Capture Close Win
|
Toronto got a valiant performance from pitcher Alex Bartolo, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago White Sox. Chicago won the game, 3-2. Bartolo threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Ruben Guevara snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 3-4 on the season. At 20-18, Chicago is in third place in the American League Central Division.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Bill Owry? The 29-year old third baseman Owry stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Chicago up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 3, including 1 double and 2 singles.
Owry told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
