Noriega Drills 2 Homers in 11-5 Kansas City Win
|
The Kansas City Royals topped the Baltimore Orioles, 11-5, with left fielder Bobby Noriega playing a big role. Noriega went 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice for the Royals in the win. Mike Mask, the winner, goes to 4-2. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts over 5 innings. Kansas City is now 18-21. Baltimore is 18-21.
With Kansas City leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Noriega came up to bat against Baltimore pitcher Matt Whisner. Noriega hit a fastball to center for a grand slam home run. His 12th home run of the season put the Royals on top, 9-0.
In postgame remarks, Noriega said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
