Angels Come Back Late to Top Nationals, 4-3
|
The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Washington Nationals, 4-3, in American League action at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Los Angeles pitcher Richard Clare had a standout performance. The winner was Clare. He threw 8.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The loser was Brandon Dobeck. Rick Whitley earned the save, his 4th.
Los Angeles took a 4-3 lead on Tyler Celeste's 8th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Celeste hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Washington pitcher Brandon Dobeck visibly frustrated.
"I was a little disappointed," said Washington manager Doug Graff. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Los Angeles now sits at 15-23, while Washington falls to 16-24.
