Reds Knock Off Braves, 6-2
|
Cincinnati Reds starter Justin Jenkin pitched a strong game against the Atlanta Braves at Great American Ball Park, leading the Reds to victory, 6-2. The winning pitcher was Jenkin, now 3-3. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Mark Langseth finished to wrap up his 4th save.
Adam Powers had a big solo home run for the Reds in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cincinnati leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Chris Snodgrass, who finished 5th in the NL in saves with 32 in 2107, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Reds on top, 3-1.
"Justin went out and did what we needed," said Cincinnati manager BJ Gorman.
Cincinnati is now 23-16. Atlanta is 18-21.
