Orioles Find a Way to Win
|
The home team gave their fans plenty to cheer about, with a thrilling walk-off win.
The Baltimore Orioles clipped the New York Yankees, 6-5, in 11 innings at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The standout performance belonged to Baltimore pitcher and Spring Valley, Nevada, native Brian Groeschen. The Orioles, at 18-21, sit in third place in the American League East Division.
The decisive blow was delivered by Tony Marquez in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a solo home run off 23-year old left-handed pitcher Zach Rogers to win the game for Baltimore. The home crowd went nuts.
"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Baltimore field general Art Matlock.
