Cincinnati second baseman Danny Blanchard contributed significantly to his team's 7-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Blanchard, the 21st overall pick in the 2103 draft, went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Reds. Mario Rangel earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Corey Comer closed the door for Cincinnati, picking up his 14th save of the year.

The Reds got a big hit from shortstop John Hamlin. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Ian Phipps in the bottom of the fifth, Hamlin pounded a 2-run double to left. His 4th double of the season put the Reds ahead, 6-5.

"If it's down the middle," said Blanchard, "you might as well hit it."

The Reds now own a record of 21-20.
