Diamondbacks Suffer 4-3 Loss to Cardinals
|
St. Louis picked up a win at Busch Stadium, bumping off the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-3. Pitcher Adam Weale was a major reason the Cardinals emerged victorious. Weale, now 2-4, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Brandon Chopp nailed down his 11th save.
One of the clutch hits for St. Louis came from one of their biggest talents. In the bottom of the seventh with one out, Phil Lewis, who leads the NL with a 1.282 OPS, hit a run-scoring single to put the Cardinals up, 4-2. For the game, the first baseman went 1-4.
"Adam was in tempo tonight," said St. Louis skipper Leyland Thomas.
The Cardinals improved their record to 25-15 with the win over Arizona.
