Guardians Beat Giants, 4-3
|
The San Francisco Giants got a superb performance from pitcher Brian McQuain, but the Cleveland Guardians still won the game, 4-3. McQuain threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The winner in relief was Bill Spencer. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Pablo Iglesias, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.
Ken Halford drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Cleveland. The 27-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jamie Estrella. It was his 4th walk of the season.
"This team is capable of getting on a roll," said Cleveland skipper Mike Nichols.
Cleveland is now 18-22, while San Francisco is 15-26.
