Mets Score 8-4 Win Against Washington
|
Washington got a terrific game from catcher Gerwin Beekhuizen. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to New York, 8-4. Beekhuizen was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Seth Schubert, the winning pitcher, is now 2-2. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 3. New York, at 14-25, sits in last place in the National League East Division.
Tom Ferrell, who is rated as the 20th best prospect by BNN, helped out the New York cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the shortstop drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Ferrell. "But I have better dreams after a win."
