Nationals Handled by Los Angeles, 9-2
|
The 9-2 Los Angeles win over Washington was due largely to Luis Lozada. The Dodgers third baseman went 2 for 2 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Bob McDonald notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 2-0. Los Angeles is now 31-10, 4½ games up in the National League West Division.
Roy Lazzaro provided a timely hit. The Los Angeles left fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dodgers on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
Lozada told the Los Angeles Observer: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
