Loss to Cardinals Extends Cleveland Losing Streak
The winning streak continued for St. Louis.

The St. Louis Cardinals trumped the Cleveland Guardians, 9-6, at Progressive Field. St. Louis designated hitter Chad Gutshall was terrific. He went 2-2 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tony Villa snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 3 innings. He's now 3-1 on the season.

St. Louis won the game in part because of Tony Cuevas. The second baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 6-3. For the game, Cuevas had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Danny Jaime.

Cleveland now owns a losing streak of 7 games.
