The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-2, in American League action at Dodger Park. Los Angeles pitcher Fred Szilagyi had a standout performance. Szilagyi, now 1-7, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Los Angeles is now 16-26.
David Elson, who finished 3rd in the NL in wins above replacement with 6.8 in 2105, helped out the Los Angeles cause in the top of the sixth inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the second baseman went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Los Angeles manager Giovanni Ciotti said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
