Boston (Rk+) had no answer for Burlington Royals starter Josh Converse, who flummoxed Red Sox hitters as the Royals cruised to victory, 7-1. In 6.1 innings, Converse surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The Royals, now 2-0, have stormed out of the gates.

Xavier Gilbert had a big 2-run home run for the Royals in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Burlington leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a fastball from Armando Lopez and swatted a home run to right. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 3-0.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Gilbert.
