Mariners Earn Late Win
The Seattle Mariners picked up a win at Safeco Field, knocking off the Houston Astros, 5-4, in 10 innings. On the mound for Seattle was right-hander Ron Payne. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Mike Clark notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 2-4. Seattle now sports a record of 15-27.

The decisive blow was delivered by Evan Hendry in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Miguel Samaniego to win the game for Seattle. The home crowd went nuts.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Seattle field general Jonah Beckenstein.
