Braves Pick Up 6-3 Win Against Burlington
|
The Danville Braves topped the Burlington Royals, 6-3, with center fielder Pat Hays playing a big role. Hays was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Braves in the win. Kevin Usher got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Jose Hernandez closed it out for his 1st save.
With Danville leading 4-3 in the top of the seventh, Hays hit a run-scoring single off Burlington hurler Nate Wood. It was the 9th hit of the season for Hays and put his team ahead, 5-3.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Hays.
With the loss, Burlington sinks to 4-2.
