Blue Jays Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
|
The Bluefield Blue Jays racked up a win at Bowen Field, bumping off the Boston (Rk+) Red Sox, 3-2, in 10 innings. Steve Siefert, who started for Bluefield, pitched effectively for his team. Bluefield reliever Ramiro Pena was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Paul Senor. Boston (Rk+) is now 2-6.
Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 20-year old center fielder Jorge Ayala had a real shot to win the game. Boston (Rk+) pitcher Paul Senor was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Ayala hit a run-scoring single. The Blue Jays had a walk-off triumph.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Ayala said.
