Mets Capture Close Win
|
The New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals, 11-10, at Citi Field. The Mets got a fine performance from second baseman Scott Hatcher, who went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. John Rood picked up the win in relief. Roberto Trejo took the loss for Washington. The loss makes Washington 21-21.
Jason Bottger was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Hatcher. "You've got to get results."
