Princeton Slaps 7-2 Loss on Danville
|
The Princeton Rays picked up a win at H.P. Hunnicutt Field, knocking off the Danville Braves, 7-2. Starting pitcher Mike Harris played a key role in the triumph. Harris, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The win puts Princeton at 6-3.
Tim Eltringham had a big grand slam home run for the Rays in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Princeton trailing 2-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 19-year old left-handed pitcher Pete Kasper and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Rays on top, 4-2.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Eltringham told the Princeton Bulletin.
