Astros Best Giants in Pitching Duel
|
The Greeneville Astros wanted a good start from Mike McCormick -- and he delivered one. The result was a 2-1 Greeneville win over the San Francisco (Rk+) Giants at Ballpark of Anchorage. The winning pitcher was McCormick, now 2-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Shungo Shimizu picked up his 2nd save of the season.
Hideki Nagao had a direct impact on the outcome. Nagao contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Greeneville up, 1-0.
"I was a little disappointed," said San Francisco (Rk+) manager Chris Aversa. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The Astros, now 6-0, have hit the ground running this season.
