The Danville Braves defeated the Kingsport Mets, 4-2. Center Fielder Pat Hays deserved a large share of the credit. Hays went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 for the Braves. Danville is first in the East with a record of 12-4.
Greg Russell, the Danville catcher, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 2-0, Braves. For the game, Russell went 1-3 with a walk.
Hays told a Danville Chronicle reporter that he was "very happy" with the win.
