The Burlington Royals used a top-flight performance from Juan Sanchez, who is tied for 10th in the APP in strikeouts with 30, to beat the Kingsport Mets, 2-1, in 10 innings. Rich de la Cruz picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Matt Lowe suffered the loss. The 5th-place Royals have a record of 10-11.

Burlington used the timely hitting of Tony Valadez to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Royals on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Valadez told a Burlington Herald reporter that he felt "euphoric" after the win.
