Pirates Click Off Another Win, 1-0
|
Burlington got a big-time effort from pitcher Antonio Aguilar, but it wasn't enough to keep the Bristol Pirates from winning the game, 1-0. Aguilar threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Corbett Healy earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 2-0. The save went to Curt Wilbur, number 2 for him.
The Royals had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Pirates going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the top prospect Mark Tallman came to the plate. Tallman hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch fastball from Burlington hurler Antonio Aguilar. It was Tallman's 4th double of the year.
"Fun game," said Tallman, "even when the outcome was in doubt."
At 15-4, Bristol is in first place in the West.
