Bristol Wins, 2-0, in Extra Innings
|
Baltimore (Rk+) pitcher Jose Santiago gave the Pirates all they could handle, but in the end, Bristol left Ballpark of Pearl River with a win, 2-0. Santiago allowed no runs on 2 hits over 6 innings. Omar Monzon was credited with the save for Bristol, his 2nd of the season. Despite the win, the Pirates have a lousy 5-17 record.
Bristol used the timely hitting of Corey Brickey to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Pirates on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Brickey said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
