Yes, It's a No-No by Gomez
|
Hugo Gomez relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Pulaski hitless in a win, 9-0, at Ballpark of Glen Ridge.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Yankees off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 21-year-old starter rung up 10 strikeouts and 4 walks in whipping the Yankees.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Pulaski skipper Erik Bowman said.
Thus far this season, Gomez has saved 0 games. His won-lost mark is 4 wins and 1 loss with 34 strikeouts in 38.2 innings, along with a 0.70 ERA.
