San Francisco (Rk+) Dismisses Princeton, 1-0
|
Pitcher Robert Valencia was sensational for the San Francisco (Rk+) Giants in his team's 1-0 triumph over the Princeton Rays. Valencia earned the win. In 5.2 innings, Valencia surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Gil Bieker earned save number 1 this season.
The Giants got a big at-bat from second baseman Shane York. For the game, York was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave San Francisco (Rk+) a 1-0 lead.
"I was a little disappointed," said Princeton manager Rusty Brady. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The Giants have an impressive 17-7 record.
