Losing Trend Continues for Houston
The Seattle Mariners, behind a great outing from Adrian Pendleton, who is tied for 8th in the AL in innings pitched with 57.1, defeated the Houston Astros, 2-1, at Safeco Field. The save was credited to Yvain Natta, his 5th. The slumping Astros have lost 6 straight.

Seattle first baseman Billy Barnhart helped the Mariners go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Barnhart hit a run-scoring single off Houston pitcher Jim Grangroth.

"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Houston manager Tony Monterosa. "Obviously."
