Rays Topple Twins with Late Rally
|
The Princeton Rays got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jason Pierce, who muffled the Elizabethton offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Rays win at Joe O'Brien Field. Ken Brusky snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-3 on the season. Pablo Herrera suffered the loss. The Rays now have a record of 9-18.
Princeton needed the clutch hitting of Danny Diaz to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rays on top, 3-1. For the game, Diaz had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Diaz called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
