The Burlington Royals romped over the Boston (Rk+) Red Sox, 11-1, at Burlington Athletic Stadium. Tim Combs led the way. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Burlington. Jason Oakes, the winner, improved to 2-2. He held the Red Sox to 1 run on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Chris Crowl was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

Bob Hair had a big 2-run home run for the Royals in the bottom of the first inning. With Burlington leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Raul Cervantes and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Royals on top, 3-0.

"When you don't put the pitches where they're supposed to be, they hit you hard," said Boston (Rk+) skipper Jay Mizrahi.

The winning streak has now reached 5 games for Burlington.
