Kingsport Beats Johnson City, 1-0
|
In a tightly-contested game between the Kingsport Mets and the Johnson City Cardinals, pitcher Ernesto Balderas was outstanding. The Kingsport right-hander propelled his team's 1-0 win. Balderas picked up the win for Kingsport, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 3-1. Kingsport is in third place in the West with a record of 17-11.
Taylor Cave drew 1 walk for Kingsport. The 22-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Nate Dickel. It was his 1st walk of the season.
Afterward, Johnson City manager Manny Chavez said: "We were guessing wrong on pitches, and that's something we've got to get away from."
