Catcher Rosado goes 4-for-5 in Bristol Win
|
The Bristol Pirates beat the Johnson City Cardinals, 9-8, at Devault Memorial Stadium. The win was due in part to catcher Luis Rosado, who went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Jason Lieber came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. Sergio Gomez picked up the save for Bristol, his 3rd of the year.
Alex Bastida found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Johnson City hurler Earl Offield, the 20-year-old second baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run. His 24th walk of the season put the Pirates on top, 9-8.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Bristol skipper Yamada Tani.
With the win over Johnson City, the Pirates improved to 17-11.
